Vernon Jeffers, 71, beloved husband, father, brother and friend passed from this world into the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday, June 5, 2014. Born March 24, 1943, in Jellico, TN, he was the son of Horace and Susan (Rains) Jeffers. He married his childhood sweetheart and best friend, Carol A. Neville on April 7, 1962. Vernon was employed as a warehouse supervisor for a local medical supply company for 10 years, retiring in 2003. Prior, he was a chef for the former Wittenbergs German Restaurant in Toledo, OH and had, along with his wife, owned and operated, Jeffers Alpine Village Restaurant in Bowling Green, OH. Vernon was a member of Victory Life Chapel in Sylvania, OH. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with his wife, but his greatest joy was spending time at home with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carol. Sons and their wives; Jeffery & Kelie, William “P.J.” & Cheryl, David & Terry, and Matthew & Jennifer Jeffers. Daughters; Jennifer Lynn Jeffers and Susan Muszynski. Brothers; Verlin (Charlene), Dale (Dixie) and Ronald (Becky) Jeffers. Sister, Ruby (James) Blankenship, sister-in-law, Patricia Keyser and brother-in-law, Al Crawford. Grandchildren; Christopher, Stephanie, Nick, Dylan, Willy, Corey, Philip, Allison and David, Jr. Great grandson, Michael and many nieces and nephews. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Donald, Earl and Herman Jeffers.
Visitation will be from 3-8 pm, Sunday, June 8, 2014, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held Monday, June 9, 2014, at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Cherry Street Mission or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Mary and the entire staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their care and support given to Vernon.
