Thomas A. Helmick, 93 of Temperance, MI and formerly of Lambertville, MI and Marshville, WV, died Monday, January 12, 2015.  Born March 20, 1921 in Sedalia, WV, he was the son of Jacob and Ethel (Law) Helmick.  A 1940 graduate of Bristol High School, he served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was employed for 20 years for American Jewel Awning Company. He was a member of the River Raisin Woodcarvers Club in Monroe, MI, where he served as past president.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Peg Stutler Helmick of Fairmont, WV, Nephew David Law Helmick of Atlanta, GA, Half niece, Michelle Darr Bell of Vancouver, WA, Step nieces, Mary Sue Boner Lance of Clarksburg, WV and Elizabeth Boner Swiger of Salem, WV, Step-nephew, Michael Boner of Jane Lew, WV, Cousins, Edison Junior Law of Lost Creek, WV, Helen Sidebottom Robertson of West Milford, WV and Mike Allen of Baton Rouge, LA. Close family friends, Julie Anderson of Lambertville, MI and Jean Davis of Plainfield, IN.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Oris Law Helmick, Half sisters, Patricia Helmick Darr Veres, Salle Helmick Nutter, Half Nephew, John Jacob Nutter, Step Brother, Charles Boner and Step Sister, Frena Jo Boner Begg.

Visitation will be from 1-2:00 pm Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where a memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm. A private graveside service will be held for family members of West Virginia at a later date.  www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
