R. “Fred” Smith, 70, of Clyde, OH, died Monday, October 3, 2016, at The Toledo Hospital. Born November 10, 1945, in Fremont, OH, he was the son of Robert and Juanita “Dee” (Hunt) Smith. A 1964 graduate of Clyde High School, he then served in the Ohio National Guard. Fred owned and operated LJ’s Amusements for the past 30 years, serving several church festivals, fairs, company picnics & schools in the Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan Area. Prior, he worked for Columbia Gas, owned and operated 2 antique stores and his grandfather’s business, the former, Smith Pure Oil in Clyde, OH. Fred was also an avid antique collector, especially anything Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck.
He is survived by his loving companion of 25 years, Linda Jambor; sisters, Jan (Duke) Davis and Patricia Ericsson of Clyde, OH; Step-children, Eric (Melissa) Jambor, Paula (Terry) Brown, Pamela Decker and Jeff Decker; grandchildren, Victoria (Tori), Savanna and Makenna and many nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, son, Shawn Smith and step-son, Jason Jambor.
Visitation will be from 2-7 pm, Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm. Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1793 W McPherson Hwy, Clyde, OH 43410 at 11:00 am. www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
