Michael A. Knab, Sr., 61 of Erie, MI, died Sunday, September 21, 2014 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, OH. Born July 14, 1953 in Monroe, MI, he was the son of Donald F. and Joyce M. (Stark) Knab. He was a 1972 graduate of Mason Consolidated High School where he had broke several swimming records in the breast stroke. He was also on the board that started the John C. Michael scholarship program and ran the alumni swim meet for several years.
He had been married to Deborah A. Fay for the past 32 years and worked as a carpenter for Donald Knab Builders for over 30 years. Michael was an honorary member of the Erie Twp. Fire Dept. and was an avid collector of antiques, enjoyed building, air shows, hunting and family genealogy.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah. Children, Codylynn (Victor) Gomez, Keri (Nicolas) Wilson and Michael A. Knab, Jr. Grandchildren; Jadah, Mikayla and Zarek. Father, Donald Knab. Brothers; Ronnie Knab and Timmy (Nancy) Knab. Sisters; Patricia (Tim) Weinstein, Sue (Sam) Kinsey, Sherrie (Tim) DeSloover and Robyn (Kurt) Hinen. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Visitation will be from 2-7 pm, Friday, September 26, 2014 at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where the Erie Volunteer Fire Dept will conduct services Friday at 6:30 pm follow by funeral services at 7:00 pm. www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
