Marilyn “Grammy” Berman, 85 of Temperance, MI, died Monday, October 12, 2015, at Ebeid Hospice Residence, Sylvania, OH. Born April 18, 1930, in Toledo, Ohio, she was the daughter of Raymond and Martha (Marquardt) Hackett. A 1948 graduate of Whitmer High School, she married Howard H. Berman on December 1, 1949, in Angola, IN. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2008. She was employed by TNS (formerly National Family Opinion) as Printing Coordinator for 18 years, retiring in 1991. Marilyn was a member of the UT Women’s Basketball Fan Club, and was likely their biggest Fan. She was a 20 year season ticket holder and also attended many away games. She was an avid Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and Ohio State Buckeye Fan. Grammy’s passion was her family and sharing her homemade meals, pies and cheesecakes with family and friends.
She is survived by her loving children, Greg (Mary) Berman and Terry L. Berman; grandchildren, Stephanie A. and Steven G. Berman; Great grandson, Chase; Sister, Maureen Peck, brother, Raymond Hackett, Jr. and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert Hackett and her beloved Westie, Snowball, who was arguably her favorite child.
Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held Thursday, October 15, 2015, at 11:00 am with Reverend Devin Smith, officiating. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
