Lester “Les” E. Nieman, 87 of Temperance, MI, died Friday, February 05, 2016 in Ebeid Hospice Residence.  Born November 17, 1928, in Blissfield, MI, he was the son of Herman and Alvina (Fink) Nieman.  A 1947 graduate of the former Burnham High School in Sylvania, he then served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.  He married Virginia “Ginny” Driver on July 18, 1951. Les was employed as a pipefitter for GM Powertrain in Toledo for 19 years, retiring in 1990.  He enjoyed dancing, gardening, woodworking, but most of all spending time with his family (especially his 15 great grandchildren).  He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Temperance and the U.A.W., Local 14, in Toledo.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ginny; sons, Bruce (Becky Bolander) Nieman, Andrew (Susan) Nieman and Mathew (Karen) Nieman; Brothers, Elwood (Martha), Harold (Janet) and Kenneth Nieman; grandchildren, Michael (Trisha) Nieman, Nathaniel (Alyssa) Nieman, Michelle (Kyle) Warner, Abby (Carl) Holmblad, and Nicholes (Lisa) Nieman.  He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Herman and Donald Nieman and sister, Susie Webber.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, Monday, February 8, 2016, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 1690 West Sterns Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 am.  Pastor Frank Paine, officiating.  Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
