Karen Lynne Wasil, 52 of Temperance, MI and formerly of Honolulu, HI, died Sunday, August 7, 2016. Born October 1, 1963, in Toledo, OH, she was the daughter of George and Helen M. (Novotny) Wasil. Karen was a 1982 graduate of Bedford High School, where she was active in sports and Soiree Singers. She then received her nursing degree from Owen Technical College and began her traveling nursing career. She subsequently had an assignment in Honolulu, HI, and then called it home for 15 years. She returned to Temperance in November of 2013. She was an active member of Revealing Truth Ministries in Honolulu. She was a confirmed member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Temperance. Her special interests lie in hosting bible studies, and singing in the Revealing Truth Ministries Praise Team.
Karen is survived by her loving siblings; Donald (Karen), Eric, and Kim Wasil and Pamela (David) Sargent; aunts, Julia Gyorki and Marilyn Wasil. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 3-8 pm, Thursday, August 11, 2016, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 12, 2016 at 11:00 am in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 9144 Lewis Avenue, Temperance, MI, where she will lie in state after 10:00 am. Reverend Lewis Carlson, officiating. Interment will follow at Bedford Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Revealing Truth Ministries. www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
