Joyce E. Sandefur, 89, of Toledo, OH, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015, in her home. Born April 21, 1926, in River Rouge, MI, she was the daughter of Thomas M. and Ruth (Green) Whelen. She married Eugene A. Sandefur on May 10, 1973. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2012. She was a beautiful artist, exhibiting various paintings at several local art shows. While her political views were unconventional (politically incorrect), she was always principled and for the underdog and disadvantaged.
She is survived by her loving children, Toni Bearfoot, Ruby Jean (Richard) Stamper, Crystal DeWalt, Thomas Wineinger, Timothy Wineinger, and Thad Wineinger, and John (Ella) Sandefur, 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her daughters, Ruth Arquette and Renea Benton, son, Michael Sandefur, and granddaughter, Nicole Crenshaw.
A gathering will be from 1-3:00 pm on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where a memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm. www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
