John R. Fisher of Temperance, Michigan, passed away on January 2, 2016 after a short stay at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. John was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 12, 1936 to Frank J. and Vivian (Jacobs) Fisher, both deceased. He grew up in Toledo and graduated from Burnham High School in 1955. He worked as a plumber for over 50 years beginning with Fisher Plumbing and Heating, and later, Wing Plumbing retiring in 1995.
John was a member of the Ottawa Lake Sportsmen Club and the local VFW. He enjoyed playing golf and was always ready for a card game, especially euchre. John spent many happy hours camping in both the Upper Peninsula and Florida. He loved watching sports, especially if his grandchildren were playing or his favorite teams, the Tigers, Lions or the University of Michigan, were winning. Those who knew him will remember his kindness and wonderful sense of humor. Above all, John loved being with his family and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife of 39 years, Maryann (Munson) Fisher; son, Jeffrey (Nancy) Fisher; and daughter, Lisa (Greg) Martin; stepsons, Chris (Petra) Munson; Steve Munson and friend, Darlene Nidek; Tom (Pamela) Munson; stepdaughters, Belinda (Don) Burgbacher; and Diane (Deacon Anthony) Pistilli; as well as 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Jim Fisher; a sister, Margaret (Jim) Sander; and sister-in-law, Kathy Fisher. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Rick Fisher; and brother, Joseph Fisher. The family would like to thank Dr. G. Blossom, Dr. R. Mowat and the staff of Hospice for the kind and compassionate care they provided to John.
Visitation will be from 4-6:30 pm, Thursday, January 7, 2016, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Road; Temperance, Michigan where a memorial service will follow at 6:30 pm. Those wishing to make a memorial donation may consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
