John A. O’Brien, 86, of Lambertville, MI, died Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Lake Park, Sylvania, OH. Born July 25, 1927 in Gas City, IN, he was the son of John A. and Iola (Nicley) O’Brien, Sr. A US Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean War, he married Sandra Swafford on August 30, 1953 in Gas City, IN. John was a profit analyst for Owens-Illinois for 38 years, retiring April 1, 1983. He was a member of the Samaria Lodge, #438, F.& A.M. and the V.F.W., 9656, Lambertville. John enjoyed animals, crossword puzzles, cooking, but most of all spending time with his grandsons.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sandra. Children, Garry (Tania) O’Brien of Toledo, OH and Lisa (Greg) Turco of Perrysburg, OH. Grandsons, Daniel and Ryan Turco. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, James, Carl and William O’Brien.
Visitation will be from 3-7 pm on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where Masonic services will follow at 7:00 pm followed by the V.F.W. services. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospitals. www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
