James ‘Jim’ W. Stanley, 85 of Temperance, MI, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 9, 2013. Born October 19, 1928 in Toledo, OH, he was the son of Worth and Florence (Zink) Stanley. A US Marine Corps veteran, he married Charlotte “Jane” Goldsmith on October 28, 1948 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Temperance, where he was still a member. Jim was a self employed carpenter for 35 years and a former co-owner of S&L Builders, retiring in 1995. He was also a member of Samaria Lodge, 438, F.&A.M., and the American Legion Post, 192 in Temperance, MI. Jim enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, gardening and loved to camp in the Northern Michigan woods.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Charlotte ‘Jane’. Children, Gregory Stanley of Sylvania, OH, Christine (Dennis) Simmons of Toledo, OH, JoAnn (Jamie) Hauser of Monroe, MI, Kelly (Audrey) Stanley of Marquette, MI and Scott Stanley of Temperance, MI. Grandchildren, Jamey (Michelle) Hardenbrook, Christopher Hardenbrook, Jessica (Rob) Harrington and Ethan (Nicole) Hauser. 2 Great grandsons and sister, Mary Beldon of Escondido, CA. He was preceded in death by his brother Gerry Stanley and son, Brian L. Stanley. In accordance to Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

There will be a memorial service Saturday, November 23, 11:00 am, at St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Temperance, MI. Arrangements made by the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, Temperance, MI.
