Irene M. Mominee, 94 of Temperance, MI, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Aspen Grove Assisted Living, Lambertville, MI. Born August 8, 1920, in Toledo, OH, she was the daughter of Julius and Cornelia (Ciszak) Hiszak. A Whitmer High School graduate, she married George A. Mominee on June 28, 1941. He preceded her on death in August 9, 1978. Irene was a charter member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance, retired from Bedford Senior Center as head cook after a life of cooking for others and hosting large holiday family parties. She enjoyed fishing with her grand children and spending time at Lake Pleasant with family sharpening her card playing skills that she utilized thoroughly.
Irene is survived by her loving children, William (Marcia) Mominee, Mary Lou (Dennis) Brewer, Suzie (David) Nowak, Julie (Robert) Schindler and Thomas (Julie) Mominee. Brothers, Richard (Shirley) Hiszak and Robert (Ruth) Hiszak. Sisters, Mary Ann Bohmer, Connie Mosley, 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Kevin Nowak, sister, Delores Malosh and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where the rosary will be prayed Friday at 6:30 pm and scripture service at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 8330 Lewis Avenue, Temperance, MI, where she will lie in state after 10:00 am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Erie, MI. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or Monroe County Special Olympics.
