H. Wesley Pickens, 82 of Toledo, OH, died Saturday, February 21, 2015, at The Toledo Hospital. Born January 22, 1933 in Mason County, West Virginia, he was the son of Samuel and Mabel (Donahue) Pickens. A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he married F. Louise Bland on December 28, 1956. Wesley was employed in maintenance for Charter One Bank (formerly Peoples Savings), retiring in 1995 and was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Toledo.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Louise. Daughters, Jennifer (Donald) Sampsell and Darla (Todd) Durham. Brothers, Emmitt (Sue) Pickens and Shelby (Ruby) Pickens. Grandchildren, Laith, Cody, Ed, Craig and 5 great grandchildren. Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Eber, Donald and Elmer Pickens and sister, Clara Smith.
Visitation will be from 3-8 pm Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Pastor Daniel Ellis, officiating.
