Gene “Onlie” Johnson, 86, passed away peacefully in his home, in Ottawa Lake, MI on Sunday night, April 26, 2015.
Gene was born on May 10, 1928 to Benjamin and Armetha”Wade” Johnson in McDunn, WV. He married Betty Mathewson on January 11, 1953. He served in the US Army from January 1951- December 1952 in the 11th Airborne Paratroop Division, Fort Campbell, KY, during the Korean War. He worked at Champion Spark Plug for eleven years, retiring in 1991. He loved fishing and hunting.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Betty. Children, Glenn, Renee Johnson-Balogh, Peggy Sue Brown, Nancy (Ted) Wright.Thirteen grandchildren, twenty four great-grandchildren and a special thank you to Janet and Jerry Johnson. He was preceded in death by a son Jeffrey.
There will be an open house for Gene on May 2, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Johnson Homestead. Memorials can be made to Betty Johnson in lieu of flowers.
