Gale R. Speweik, 69, of Temperance, MI, died Monday, January 2, 2017, in The Toledo Hospital. Born July 14, 1947, in Toledo, OH, he was the son of Alfred and Dorothy (Miller) Speweik. Gale attended DeVilbiss High School, where he was an All-City Football player. He then served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Gale married Sharon Houstin on January 6, 1968 in Toledo, OH. Gale was a self-employed brick mason. Gale enjoyed golfing, bowling, cheering on the Cleveland Indians and Browns, and cooking for his family.
He is survived by his loving wife 49 years, Sharon; children, Timothy (Aimee) Speweik, Jennifer Cernanec, Brad (Maribeth) Speweik and Gina (Brian) Lause; sisters, Joanne Kurth, Jeanette Hartford, and 20 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Jack, Robert and Wayne Speweik and sister, Janet Workman.
Visitation will be from 2-7 pm Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
