Constance “Connie” Hoffman, 95, of Sylvania, OH and formerly of Temperance, MI, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Sunset Village, Sylvania, OH. Born November 9, 1920, in Washington Twp., OH, she was the daughter of John E. and Katherine H. (David) Raitz. She married Joseph I. Hoffman on May 11, 1957 in Sylvania Twp., OH. He preceded her in death on April 29, 2013. Connie graduated from the former Point Place Senior High School and then graduated from Stautzenberger’s Private Secretarial School in 1938. During WWIII, she passed Civil Service examinations for both clerk-typist and clerk -stenographer. She then worked for a time for the Office of Price Administration in Richmond, VA. She was employed as a secretary for the Northwestern Cooperative Sales Association (later, Milk, Inc.) for several years. She also worked as receptionist/switchboard operator for the Schmidt Provision Company. Connie was a member of Alexis Congregational Church, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, St. Michael Catholic Church, Mon-Arc of Monroe County, Inc., Bedford Senior Center, Monroe Center for Healthy Aging, Point Place Heritage Society, Historical Society of Bedford, Genealogical Society of Monroe County, Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, Sherman Osborne Post, 192 and All-States Club in Eustis, FL
She is survived by her loving son, David. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn Graves and Vivian Kruger.
Visitation will be from 3-8 pm Sunday, March 20, 2016, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 21, 2016, at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 8330 Lewis Avenue, Temperance, MI, where she will lie in state after 10:00 am. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
