Chase was born to Scott and Amy (Graham) DuVall on July 25, 1996 and left this life on January 11th. What a life it was! Growing up in the country provided the perfect setting for all the activities he enjoyed and most likely was the foundation for his love of the out doors and traveling.
Chase was a 2014 graduate of Bedford High School. As a member of the cross country team he not only developed a love for running but he also learned to push himself in an attempt to always beat his personal best record which carried over to all things he did in life! Chase was blessed with the ability to dance which was quite apparent when people would watch him perform with the Bedford Soirée singers. He loved to choreograph their performances and was given an award for the dance he choreographed and performed for Showcase, bringing attention to the affects of bullying. While a member of the Soirée singers, Chase was fortunate enough to travel and perform in Chicago, Orlando, and the Bahamas.
Spending time with family and friends was a must for Chase but if travel could be added in that was a bonus! He loved family vacations with some of the most memorable being hiking and camping in the Grand Canyon and Smoky Mountains, experiencing island life in Vieques, exploring and cliff diving in Sedona, and especially telling stories around the camp fire up north! This past summer after spending time in Fort Lauderdale with friends he was home for only a week before going to California with his brother. Within 24 hours of returning from their California get away, Chase boarded a plane for Spain. He felt so blessed to have been given the opportunity to study in Toledo Spain.
When he wasn’t studying in Spain he was studying at the University of Toledo where he majored in Pre Med. He totally embraced the college life and in true Chase fashion he was involved in as much as he possibly could. By far the best decision he made was to join the Pi Kappa Alpha (Pike) fraternity. He made countless friends who he considered to be true brothers. As a member he was UT chapter’s brand manager, the songfest director, and morale leader for Rockethon, elected to be the RA next year, and was this years winner of Big Man on Campus. In addition to these positions it was said that he also was a nurse to those that needed it after the weekend socials, a frequent DD for his brothers as well as any of the sorority sisters, as well as a counselor/ therapist to those that needed it , encouraging others to not hide behind the closet door but to step out and be the person they were born to be!
In Chase’s spare time he loved working at Monnettes Market and LaRoys Reception Hall. He considered himself blessed to work at small family businesses and for two of the nicest men you could ever meet. He was proud to have recently been promoted to one of the managers at Monnettes because that meant that a man he so respected, JD DeFalco, was putting his trust in Chase.
More important than everything Chase has done, is who Chase was! He will be most remembered for his smile. Chase would light up a room with his smile and infectious energy. Every photograph shows him as the life of the party. He was the most caring, loving person you could ever meet, always taking time to help others especially his sister who he adored! He recently helped a customer who was developmentally delayed. He spent 30 minutes on the phone helping her to reset her PIN number that she had forgotten. If they were unable to reset the number he planned on paying for her groceries as he had done with other customers in the past.
Chase will be greatly missed by his parents; brother, Tanner DuVall ; sister Brynn DuVall, grand parents Connie and Larry Edinger, Christa and Robert DuVall; many aunts and uncles, and cousins and an overwhelming number of friends who adored him. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Daniel J. Graham Jr.
Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Sunday, January 17, 2016, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Monday, January 18, 2016, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 8330 Lewis Avenue, Temperance, MI, where he will lie in state after 10:00 am.
