Charles L. Cole, 89, of Temperance, MI, died Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Ebeid Hospice Residence. Born May 24, 1927, in Swannanoa, NC, he was the son of Arthur W. and Ruby A. (Jones) Cole. A 1945 graduate of DeVilbiss High School , he then served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Charles was employed at Brondes Ford, receiving several sales awards during a 37 year career in automobile sales. He retired in 1995. He was an avid listener of big band era music and a sports enthusiast. Charles was a great conversationalist and had an exceptional knowledge of history as well as current events. His family remembers him as being generous and kind who always encouraged them to pursue their goals. He taught his children the value of hard work and instilled a strong work ethic. Charles dedication to his family was exhibited by his happy smiles and warm glow. He will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his loving sons, Charles and Richard Cole; step-sons, Craig and Jeff Wieczorek; brothers, Edward (Ruth Ann), Gary (Janet) and Eugene (Judy) Cole; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his; brother, Richard E. Cole; Aunt, Ethel Y. Cole and Uncle, Robert (Mae) Cole.
Visitation will be from 3-8 pm Tuesday, October 18, 2017, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at Lewis Avenue Baptist Church, 6320 Lewis Avenue, Temperance, MI, where he will lie in state at 10:00 am.
